The monstrous bushfires decimating southeastern Australia have now killed 17 people.

Deaths are the most extreme health impact of the bushfires. NSW police confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that three people had been found dead due to fires along the south coast adding to four deaths that had been reported Tuesday. Those figures are revealed in an interim report entitled Australias 2019-2020 Bushfires. An animal rescuer carries a kangaroo burned in a bushfire. There were 169301 registered deaths in 2019 an increase of 10808 since 2018.

The current fire season is far from over especially for the southern states of Australia. The Wildlife Toll commissioned by the World Wide Fund for Nature and believed to be world first research. Its thought at least a billion animals died in the fires.
